PMCG Supports Circular Economy Transition in Armenia under the EU4Green Recovery East Programme

27.05.2026

As part of the EU-funded regional programme EU4Green Recovery East, UNIDO organized an Awareness Raising Event on Circular Economy and Industrial Waste Mapping during the Green Agenda Armenia Conference 2026 held at the American University of Armenia.

The event brought together more than 50 representatives from government institutions, municipalities, regional administrations, NGOs, research organizations, private sector entities, and international development partners to discuss sustainable industrial development, industrial waste management, and circular economy approaches in Armenia.

Opening remarks were delivered by Zhirayr Edilyan, UNIDO Country Representative in Armenia, Harutyun Khachatryan from the Kotayk Regional Governor’s Office Staff, and Armen Shekhoyan from Yerevan Municipality. Speakers highlighted the importance of institutional cooperation, data-driven planning, and sustainable resource management in supporting Armenia’s green transition.

The conference also featured presentations by international and local experts, including Tatyana Chernyavskaya, Jerzy Sarnacki, and Irina Mkrtchyan, focusing on international best practices, industrial waste mapping methodologies, and opportunities for strengthening circular economy implementation in Armenia.

PMCG is proud to contribute to this important initiative through its ongoing engagement under the EU4Green Recovery East programme. Within the framework of the programme, UNIDO has contracted PMCG to provide strategic and technical support for the implementation of industrial waste mapping activities in Armenia and Moldova.

The assignment aims to support the transition toward more circular and resource-efficient industrial practices by mapping industrial waste streams at regional and cluster levels. The project will identify opportunities for waste reduction, reuse, and valorisation while fostering industrial symbiosis and improving material efficiency across industrial value chains.

Implemented over a 12-month period in close cooperation with UNIDO and national stakeholders, the project contributes to evidence-based policymaking and promotes circular economy practices at both national and regional levels.

Through this assignment, PMCG continues supporting sustainable development initiatives that contribute to greener, more resilient, and more inclusive economic growth across the Eastern Partnership region.

The activity is implemented with the financial assistance of the European Union. The views expressed herein can in no way be taken to reflect the official opinion of the European Union.
