Trainings to Support Implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA)

16.03.2020

On March 11-12, a two-day training entitled “Border Control Procedures for Food/Feed of Non-Animal Origin” was staged for the Revenue Service of Georgia.

The general objective of the training was to increase the compliance of Georgian legislation with EU norms related to the Association Agreement (AA).

During the training sessions, the participants were introduced the recent updates in European legislation concerning the regulation of border control procedures for food/feed of non-animal origin, as well as the main principles on import procedures. Moreover, trainees deepened their knowledge of the EU’s labeling requirements.

“The conducted trainings are very important in the process of the effective implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement as it will enhance knowledge and skills of the employees of the Revenue Service of Georgia on how to perform border control procedures for food/feed of non-animal origin in line with EU Regulation 2017/625,” said Tamar Medulashvili, Project Manager at PMCG.

The trainings were conducted under the EU project “Facility for the Implementation of the EU-Georgia AA II,” which is being implemented by PMCG, as part of a consortium led by IBF International Consulting.
