Implemented within the USAID Economic Security Program, this project aims to accelerate the creation of higher-value jobs as well as the generation of investment, and to increase incomes and revenues for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the following sectors: tourism, light manufacturing, shared intellectual services, creative industries, and solid waste management.

The objectives of the project are as follows:

Objective 1: To establish thematic working groups within each sector/value chain. The working groups will include female and male representatives of the private sector, clusters, business associations, government, and civil society.

Objective 2: To review the eco-system within each value chain, namely light manufacturing (construction materials and personal and protective equipment (PPE)), solid waste management, and recycling, and to identify key economic issues and develop policy briefs.

Objective 3: To compile the six developed policy briefs into a “Compendium of Policy Briefs in Support of Key Economic Sectors and Value Chains” and present them to the USAID EG and D&G partners in a roundtable format, and to the representatives of government and political parties at PPD sessions.

Objective 4: To monitor the progress made by, and the outcomes of, the PPDs.

To achieve the project objectives, our team will develop the following:

  • Methodology and Work Plan;
  • Policy Brief on Creative Industries;
  • Policy Brief on Tourism;
  • Policy Brief on Light Manufacturing (Furniture and Packaging);
  • Policy Brief on Shared Intellectual Services;
