Project Description:

The overall objective of this project was to develop policy for Worldwide Responsible Accredited pProduction (WRAPrap) standard, under USAID- funded Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) project. The specific objective of the assignment was to provide technical assistance and deliver policies and procedures for the WRAP’s principle, in particular for Ccustoms Ccompliance.

PMCG developed policy for the WRAP Principle on Customs Compliance principle; the team determined how facilities should comply with applicable customs laws, and in particular how the procedures should be established and maintained to comply with customs laws regarding illegal transshipment of finished products. Moreover, PMCG drew up the methodologies that the factories should implement in order to meet requirements of the WRAP Customs Compliance principle.

Background information:

Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the certification of lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world. WRAP was established in January 2000 and is the world’s largest labor and environmental certification program for labor-intensive consumer products, manufacturing and processing. As a certification body, WRAP sets the standards for manufacturers in many developing countries, and thus is considered the “international passport for entry into western countries”.
