PMCG VP Zviad Kharebava Highlights Middle Corridor Connectivity at Burgas Forum 2026

8.06.2026

PMCG Vice President Zviad Kharebava participated as a keynote speaker at the Burgas Connectivity Forum 2026, organized by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and Authorities of Bulgaria.

The forum brought together political leaders, diplomats, experts, businesses, and institutional representatives from 17 countries to discuss the future of connectivity, regional cooperation, and sustainable development across Europe and the wider Black Sea region.

Held at the Cultural House of NHK in Burgas, the opening day featured remarks from representatives of the Municipality of Burgas, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria, and the Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung. Speakers emphasized the importance of resilient connectivity, cross-border cooperation, and strategic regional corridors for strengthening stability, economic development, and European integration.

As part of the forum, Zviad Kharebava delivered a keynote presentation titled “Georgia as a Strategic Energy Transit Hub: Connecting the Caspian to Europe.” His presentation highlighted Georgia’s growing role in linking the South Caucasus and Central Asia with European markets through existing and emerging energy corridors.

Kharebava discussed Georgia’s established position as a transit country for Caspian oil and gas through major regional infrastructure, including the Baku–Tbilisi–Supsa, Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan, and South Caucasus Pipeline routes. He also addressed Georgia’s electricity sector, renewable energy potential, and the strategic importance of future interconnection projects.

A key focus of the presentation was the Black Sea Power Cable, a planned high-voltage submarine electricity interconnection linking Georgia with Romania and Hungary. The project is expected to support the export of green energy from Georgia and Azerbaijan to Europe, while also strengthening digital connectivity through a planned fiber-optic component.

Kharebava also underlined the broader potential of the Caspian Green Energy Corridor, which could connect renewable electricity production in Central Asia with the South Caucasus and, through Georgia, onward to European markets. This positions Georgia as an important regional platform for energy security, market integration, and sustainable growth.

The Burgas Connectivity Forum 2026 provided an important platform for dialogue on the strategic infrastructure, energy, transport, and cooperation priorities shaping the future of Southeast Europe and the Black Sea region. PMCG’s participation reaffirmed the company’s commitment to contributing expert insight to regional connectivity, energy transition, and economic development discussions.
