PMCG Engages Communities to Shape the Future of Energy-Efficient Schools
PMCG, together with its consortium partners Fichtner and SDAP, has launched a series of community meetings as part of the design phase of the KfW-funded Programme for Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Georgia. The initiative aims to renovate and modernize public schools nationwide, placing energy efficiency at the center of improvements. Ultimately, the program will help transform outdated buildings into safer, greener, and more comfortable learning environments for students and teachers.
As part of this effort, our team met with local communities and school representatives on 8 December at Rustavi Public Schools No. 11 and No. 23, and on 10 December at Dmanisi Public Schools No. 1 and No. 2. Additional consultations will continue throughout December. These meetings brought together representatives from the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, PMCG, SDAP, as well as school principals, teachers, students, parents, and local resource centers.
The purpose of these consultations is to introduce the project, listen to community perspectives, and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the grievance and communication mechanisms outlined in the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP). Feedback gathered during these discussions will play a crucial role in shaping the renovation designs so that they reflect the real needs and expectations of each school community.
