Supporting SMEs to Enhance their Competitiveness on International Markets
On March 25, we conducted a training for representatives of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) regarding various aspects of international trade and development activities under EBRD initiative “Trade Ready.”
The main objective of this project as a whole, as well as this training in particular, is to support importer and exporter SMEs to identify areas with potential for development in their organizations and to make the best use of their trade opportunities on international markets.
With this in mind, during the training, we discussed capacity building and necessary skills to promote SMEs, strategic planning, and the importance of researching the demand, competition and standards required in their target markets in relation to the products they seek to export.
“The training was focused on addressing the challenges faced by many Georgian companies and we strongly believe that it will significantly contribute to the integration of SMEs into international trade flows,” said Salome Napetvaridze, Project Manager at PMCG.
Moreover, SMEs were asked to assess their own performance, to identify at least three ideas for development, and to fill out an action plan for future consideration.
The project is being implemented by PMCG, as part of a consortium led by DAI, under the EBRD initiative, funded by the European Union.
