Supporting EU Delegation to Strengthen Capacity of CSOs in Uzbekistan
In October 2024, PMCG supported the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan’s capacity-building trainings for nearly 60 civil society organizations (CSOs). In particular, as a subcontractor of International Consulting Expertise – ICE EEIG, PMCG provided assistance to deliver trainings aimed at enhancing project design and management as well as monitoring and evaluation skills and fostering gender-inclusive initiatives.
These comprehensive trainings were conducted as part of the ongoing EU Framework Contract Project titled “Human Rights and Democracy Support Measures for Uzbekistan” reflecting the EU’s broader commitment to empowering local actors in driving sustainable development.
Trainings were delivered to national, regional, and local CSOs, addressing specific community needs in the hope of realizing the goals of Uzbekistan’s wider social development agenda.
Staged in Tashkent, Ferghana, and Samarkand and led by international trainers, the one-day trainings equipped CSOs with essential tools to enhance their project design and management, promote gender inclusivity, and strengthen monitoring and accountability. Moreover, the trainings enabled participants to lead their own initiatives more effectively.
Boosting Understanding of Methodologies to Enhance Uzbekistan’s Sustainable Development
Building upon their prior project management experience, training participants deepened their understanding of logical framework analysis (LFA) and theory of change, two key methodologies in strategic planning and adapting to dynamic environments. Meanwhile, the gender-responsiveness component equipped trainees to design inclusive activities, ensuring that they address the diverse needs of the communities they serve.
The CSOs that benefited from the trainings included both local organizations working directly with targeted communities and national-level organizations covering a range of sectors vital to Uzbekistan’s development.
Among these key areas were social protection, education, capacity building, women’s rights and gender equality, health and disability advocacy, youth development, civil society development, media, and freedom of speech, while some also focused on environmental protection, sustainability, agriculture, and innovation.
