Strengthening Institutional Capacity of Adjara Forestry Agency
On November 27, Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG) held a meeting with Vakhtan Tsuladze, Chairman of Directorate for Environment and Natural Resources of Autonomous Republic of Adjara, to discuss the challenges the Adjara Forestry Agency (AFA) faces related to institutional development and capacity building.
The meeting had a working format and served as the beginning of another stage of collaboration with the Government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara (GoARA) that envisages the development of a 4-year strategic plan. PMCG has already provided assistance to numerous GoARA ministries and agencies to strengthen its institutional capacity and to deal with its policy challenges.
The AFA shared its vision of the Agency’s development, as well as the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with PMCG’s team of professionals in the framework of the meeting and the major outline of the action plan was subsequently agreed.
The project is funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN). The major goal of the collaboration is to support the AFA in the strategic planning process, the mid-term institutional development strategy, covering the action plan linked to the budget of the Agency, detailed annual work plans for each structural unit of the AFA, as well as the Performance Management Plans (PMPs) and internal monitoring tools measuring and evaluating the strategy implementation process.
