PMCG, with the support of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), is implementing a high-level initiative focused on enhancing the role of the Georgian Standards and Metrology (GeoSTM) within the country’s national quality infrastructure (NQI).

The project aims to support informed policymaking by developing a concise Policy Brief that highlights GeoSTM’s strategic importance, institutional capacity, and potential for further development. This will guide future investment and reform in Georgia’s metrology sector.

Key activities include:

  • A comprehensive desk review of GeoSTM’s current role;
  • Stakeholder interviews with calibration labs and key industry clients (e.g., GMP Pharma, Socar, Aversi);
  • International benchmarking and economic impact assessment;
  • Development of actionable policy and funding recommendations.

The final Policy Brief and findings will be presented to key government stakeholders and disseminated through PMCG’s platforms and networks.
