PMCG’s CEO Elected as Vice President of the International Consortium on Governmental Financial Management (ICGFM)
We are pleased to announce that our CEO and Chairman, Aleksi Aleksishvili, has been selected as the Vice President-Elect of Programs of the International Consortium on Governmental Financial Management (ICGFM). The ICGFM is a leading global public financial management (PFM) member-based organization, uniting government entities, international financial institutions, consulting companies, professional associations, university departments, and high-level financial management professionals all devoted to improving financial management.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to be selected as the Vice President- Elect of Programs of the ICGFM and to have an opportunity to be part of this platform dedicated to improving financial management by providing opportunities for professional development and information exchange. We, at PMCG, have accumulated a diverse portfolio in PFM, while working with countries in transition in different regions and continue to support states worldwide to develop policy frameworks and procedures for modern PFM systems,” said Mr. Aleksishvili.
For 15 years, PMCG has been contributing to enhancing accountability, transparency, and good governance at the international level, supporting states worldwide to develop modern PFM systems built on advanced methodologies and innovative approaches, based on modern information and communication technologies, thereby enabling sustainable, efficient, effective, and transparent management of public finances.
Mr. Aleksishvili in particular has accumulated exceptional knowledge of public finance and development challenges. Indeed, he has 20 years of sound experience, working in public finance and economic development policy as a high-level government official and adviser. Specifically, he is one of the leading architects of crucial reforms in Georgia, having served the country as Minister of Economic Development (2004-2005) and Minister of Finance (2005-2007). He has also advised numerous governments of countries such as Albania, Mongolia, Kosovo, Mozambique, Iraq, Liberia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, and others on enhancing their PFM and business-enabling environments by providing valuable assistance and conveying his specialized experience of a transitional country.
PMCG has been a member of the ICGFM since 2019, an arrangement which has helped us further contribute to our goal of enhancing PFM. We are consistent participants and invited speakers at their semi-annual conferences and events. At the most recent winter symposium, PMCG moderated a panel presentation and discussion on protecting data in the face of evolving cybersecurity threats, gathering leading professionals from the private sector, government, and academia.
Established in 1978 in the USA, the ICGFM is a leading non-profit membership association that is unique in the financial management community. In fact, the ICGFM remains the first “umbrella” organization whose members include government entities, private firms, professional associations, and university departments, as well as individuals devoted to improving financial management. Through advocacy, education, and awareness, the ICGFM promotes best practices in PFM globally.
