Outcomes of Research into Georgia’s Economic and Political Relations with China and the EU Presented
On July 9, PMC Research presented the findings of its research entitled “Relations between China, the European Union and Georgia: Analysis of Economic and Political Relations” and subsequently held a discussion thereon.
The aim of the study was to analyze the economic and political ties between China and Georgia, as well as between Georgia and the EU. The study also reviewed Georgia’s existing trade agreements with China and the EU, and the outcomes thereof so far.
During the presentation, the main findings of the research were emphasized, and a discussion was held on the following key issues: deepening of China-Georgia economic relations and the possible impact on Georgia’s political relations with the West; identification and analysis of the economic consequences of the China-Georgia free trade agreement (FTA); and identification and analysis of the economic consequences of the EU-Georgia free trade agreement (DCFTA).
“The Georgia-EU and Georgia-China free trade agreements are documents that will have a significant impact on Georgia’s economic development trajectory. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the economic effects of these agreements and their possible long-term political consequences,” said Giorgi Khishtovani, Director at PMC Research.
The outcomes of the research were presented by Irakli Sirbiladze and Mikheil Mghebrishvili (both Associate Researchers at PMC Research), and it was moderated by Giorgi Khishtovani.
The research was conducted as part of the project “Public Policy Discussion and Dialogue Platform,” which is being implemented by PMC Research, with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
