Empowering Civil Society Organizations in Uzbekistan
PMCG, as a lead implementing partner of the EU-funded project “Human Rights and Democracy Support Measures for Uzbekistan”, in cooperation with the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan and its consortium partners, organised the workshop “Empowering CSOs Through Rights-Based & Gender-Responsive Approaches”,on 9th of December in Tashkent. The workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to apply the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) and to integrate gender-responsive and GBV-prevention measures into their work.
The workshop kicked off with opening remarks by His Excellency Mr. Toivo Klaar, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan, highlighting the significance of accountable and evidence-based approaches in the CSO work and was facilitated by sectorial experts. Through thematic presentations, group work, and applied learning exercises, participants enhanced their understanding of HRBA principles and gender-responsive project design, while also exploring practical tools for improving accountability within their organisations. Participants included youth organisations, women’s rights advocates, community organisations, international NGOs.
The initiative reflects PMCG’s unwavering commitment to supporting human rights, democratic values, and civil society development. PMCG highly values continued and comprehensive cooperation with the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, whose support continues to drive sustainable development across the country.
