Developing Parliament’s Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee Action Plan

PMCG, in consortium with Tetra Tech ARD, under the framework of the USAID Good Governance Initiative program, has developed the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee Action Plan for 2015-2016. The plan aims to support parliamentary committees to better perform their oversight function, improve their policy development and lawmaking capabilities.

At the first stage, PMCG conducted an assessment of the legislative and supervisory work of the Committee and analyzed its communication mechanisms with the members of parliament (MPs), civil society, government and other stakeholders.

To gain the full picture, PMCG gathered information through collecting data, desk research and individual interviews with the Committee heads, members and deputy heads of the Minister, Parliament’s Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee staff and also with the representatives of NGOs and business associations. During the meetings, strengths and weaknesses of the Committee were analyzed, according to which challenges and recommendations of the Committee were identified.

Based on findings and subsequent recommendations, the priorities of the Committee were identified. Consequently, the priorities were reflected in the 2015-2016 Action Plan of Parliament’s Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee that will contribute to enhancing policy development and the lawmaking process.
