Analyzing Private Sector in Municipalities of Two Georgian Regions

7.03.2019

On February 22, Giorgi Khishtovani, Director at PMC Research presented the outcomes of the study “Regional Market Assessment in Georgia by using the components of Smart Specialization.”

The main objective of this research was to map and analyze the private sector in Tbilisi and five target municipalities within Kvemo Kartli and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions based on the components of the Smart Specialization methodology.

The market assessment provides information on business trends, gaps in the employment market and key private sector actors as well as opportunities for synergies and linkages.

After analyzing the market and identifying the most concentrated and competitive sectors of the targeted regions, the assessment is intended to support different groups of society to improve their access to employment, as well as boosting their entrepreneurial and educational opportunities.

“Analysis of labor market supply and demand is essential for the reduction of unemployment. Having knowledge of what type of education, skills, and experience are demanded by the market gives job-seekers a better opportunity to access employment, and to enhance their entrepreneurial and educational opportunities,” said Mr. Khishtovani.

The research was conducted by PMC Research, in collaboration with Action Against Hunger, under the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)-supported project “Economic and Social Participation of Vulnerable Displaced Persons and Local Population in the South Caucasus – EPIC.”
