PMCG Conducts the Training Session for Internal Audit Department staff of the Ministry of IDPs, Accommodation and Refugees
Between May 20-31, Policy and Management Consulting Group – PMCG with the support of Danish Refugee Council provided training sessions to the Internal Audit Department staff of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia.
The main purpose of the training sessions was for Internal Audit Department staff of the Ministry to acquire basic knowledge and skills in order to successfully fulfill their obligations including: control compliance with Georgian legislation, financial audit, conduct disciplinary actions, elaboration of recommendations toward improvement of the Ministry’s overall functioning and effectiveness of internal working processes of the Ministry and, finally, ensuring the adherence to work ethic rules.
As part of the internal audit workshop PMCG experts introduced international standard methodologies and tools to build basic capacities in:
• Modern risk-based internal auditing based on international standards and functioning within national laws;
• Understanding the modern public sector internal audit as a cornerstone of the public internal financial control framework;
• Conducting internal audits in the public sector: audit phases, internal control system, risk identification and assessment;
• Building tools for conducting an internal audit: procedures, working papers, and sampling.
A total of 16 participants attended the training after which they completed post-test forms to assess their understanding and/or knowledge of the issues covered. The test scores showed that the knowledge of all training participants had improved and that, overall, the training was considered successful.
