Under the USAID Economic Governance Program, PMCG, as a subcontractor of Deloitte, is engaged in the “Assessment of rules of origin application for potential Kazakhstani goods to be processed in Georgia and exported to Europe” activity, designed to bring significant trade benefits to Georgia and Kazakhstan.
Specifically, the activity sets out to identify specific goods to be transported from Kazakhstan to Georgia, processed to meet the EU’s rules of origin requirements under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), and then exported as “Made in Georgia” products.
In particular, PMCG is providing technical expertise to analyze and implement strategies to identify the most suitable products in Kazakhstan for this endeavor, in line with the EU’s DCFTA rules of origin.
In this regard, PMCG is scrutinizing potential value-adding operations, preparing a user-friendly guidebook for stakeholders, and holding workshops to increase the capacity of private sector representatives.
This is expected to enhance Georgia’s trade capacity, boost domestic production, and increase exports. At the same time, the activity helps Georgia to showcase and bolster its role as a key transportation hub in the Trans-Caspian Corridor.
