PMCG Support to Enhance Sanitary Conditions for Over 200,000 Residents in Kvemo Kartli
We are working in Kvemo Kartli to enhance the living conditions of the local population through boosting sanitation in the region.
In the course of the Kvemo Kartli Solid Waste Management Project, on July 30 a stakeholder meeting was conducted to present and discuss already implemented activities, developed documents, and upcoming plans regarding the construction of a new regional non-hazardous waste disposal facility in Kvemo Kartli with representatives of the relevant municipalities, non-governmental organizations, and the local population.
The new waste disposal facility will serve more than 200,000 local residents across the following five municipalities of Kvemo Kartli region: Tetritskaro, Marneuli, Tsalka, Bolnisi, and Dmanisi. It will also be equipped with leachate treatment and biogas collection systems.
“The meeting was aimed at informing the local government and the population of the region ahead of the commencement of the administrative proceedings regarding the screening report about the construction of a new regional non-hazardous waste disposal facility in Tetritskaro municipality. Advanced technologies are involved in the project, which will significantly contribute to the sanitary sustainability of the region,” said Kakha Rukhaia, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Consultant at PMCG.
Moreover, the construction of a new waste disposal facility will also create additional jobs for the local population.
This project is being implemented by PMCG, as part of a consortium led by HPC AG, and is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
