Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG) is accepting applications for Agriculture Development Lead for an anticipated USAID Georgia Agricultural Trade Program. The purpose of the USAID/Georgia Agricultural Trade Programis to strengthen Georgia’s capacity to export sustainability to high-value markets. The Program will support export diversification, strengthen local agricultural market systems in Georgia, and attract new private investment into the sector. In order to achieve its purpose, this program is expected to address three objectives: 1) Increased market linkages with non-malign markets, with a specific focus on reducing dependence on the Russian market; 2) Improved capacity of agricultural enterprises to access export markets, including compliance with international standards and improving or establishing export-oriented infrastructure for agricultural goods; 3) Strengthened climate-responsive food and agricultural systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of project activities related to climate-responsive food and agricultural systems, in collaboration with project partners and stakeholders
  • Conduct research and assessments to identify key agricultural challenges and opportunities, and to identify strategies and technologies for improving resilience and sustainability
  • Develop and implement capacity-building activities for farmers, rural communities, agricultural enterprises, and other stakeholders to promote climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture practices, including climate-smart agriculture and ecosystem-based approaches
  • Provide technical assistance and support to project partners and stakeholders in the design and implementation of climate-resilient agriculture interventions
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and collaboration to ensure effective implementation of climate-resilient agriculture interventions, and to promote sustainable and inclusive food and agricultural systems
  • Monitor and evaluate project activities related to agricultural systems, and report on progress and results to project management and stakeholders
  • Contribute to knowledge management and learning activities related to climate-resilient agriculture and food systems, and share best practices and lessons learned with project partners and stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as agricultural science or environmental science
  • At least 5 years of experience in implementing agricultural programs with a strong focus on promoting sustainable agriculture practices and resilience to climate change
  • Experience working with agricultural enterprises, and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing them in adapting to the impacts of climate change
  • Strong technical expertise in climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem-based approaches, water management, soil conservation, and other climate-resilient agriculture practices
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building and training of farmers, rural communities, and other stakeholders in climate-resilient agriculture practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective strategies and interventions in complex and challenging environments
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and partners
  • Experience working with USAID or other international donors is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, knowledge of Georgian is an asset
